Liz Heslop-Shumake

specializes in impressionistic art with societal overtones in her message. Working mainly in oils, she also works in pastels, charcoals and acrylics. She has also taken her love of animals to provide proud owners, like herself an opportunity to have their furry friend captured in an art. A native of Akron , Ohio , she has resided in Hilton Head Island , South Carolina since 1996. She has owned Puppy Portraits for eight of those years, but also is commissioned for children's portraits. Liz has been a member of the Hilton Head Art League and Bluffton Art League . She has shown her work in private venues, as well as being accepted to the Hilton Head Art League Juried Show in 1996 and 2000,the MacDonough Works on Paper Competition in Canton, Ohio and the "A Room With A View" exhibit in Akron, Ohio.

Prior to moving to South Carolina , Liz was a graduate of Firestone High School in 1988, and attended Kenyon College and, later, graduated from the University of Akron with a B.F.A., majoring in painting. Along with her fine art, she also works as a freelance graphic artist.
